Movie Star Style

17 Dec

Have you seen the trailers for the upcoming film My Week With Marylin…based on the iconic Marylin Monroe?

Did you happen to notice her sunglasses?!

Because I did!

An exact replica had just arrived in the practice, for the new Dior collection and I’d been trying them on.

Then lo and behold, Michelle Williams is on my screen, rocking them as part of her Marylin look!

So this is the black version from Dior…

But they also come in lush turquoise…

Or what about an everyday opthalmic look?!

I even spotted this one in the Rayban collection!

or in brown…

So now you have no excuses for not channelling your inner starlet!

Book Recommendations for Kids

28 Oct

Good morning!

Today I have been doing a little bit of research for my boss. We’re looking for some kiddies books to update our collection and I have come across some delights!

For the most part we find that children love getting glasses, particularly if family members already wear them but if you’re looking for some literature to help them come to terms with spectacle wear or other eye conditions, then take at look at the books below.

Look out for the one that focuses on having to wear a patch and there is a really beautiful one about having a lazy eye.

‘Glasses, who needs em’ by Lane Smith

‘Princess Peepers’ by Pam Calvert

‘I really absolutely must have glasses (Charlie and Lola)’ by Lauren Child

‘The Patch’ by Justina Chen Headley

‘My Travelin’ Eye’ by Jenny Sue Kostecki-Shaw

‘The Eye Book’ by Dr Seuss

‘Who wears glasses’ by Ana Galan

All of these books are available at Amazon, if you want to read the book reviews or even purchase a copy for yourself! I’ve linked all the titles for you to make it easier to navigate there!

Designer Kids Frames

8 Oct

Ok, so it’s time to get back to the original plan. I was supposed to show you some designer kids frames but with the excitement of the new OCT scanner arriving in the practice, I haven’t had a chance until now!

Soooo, as promised, check out some of the trendiest frames for your mini-me’s!

A little bit of Gucci.

Or Junior Rayban.

Or the kiddies William Morris range – Young Wills.

As you can see they are small but perfectly formed – just like your little ones!

Icebergs and Eye Tests.

22 Aug

A new day has dawned in Holley Optometrists – eye tests will never be the same again!

We have been consistently ahead of the game, when it comes to offering you the latest optical developments and this month is no different as we launch our new eye examination.

Up to now, we have only been able to see the tip of the iceberg, with regard to your eyes.

But from 12th August 2011, our new OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography) scanner will show us what’s beneath!

This 3D scan will show every layer of the eye, flagging up problems like diabetes, glaucoma, vitreous detachments & macular degeneration…..

…..early detection and prompt treatment can often prevent avoidable long term damage.

Previously only available with eye specialists in hospitals, the OCT scanner has hit the high street and we are leading the way in offering this valuable technology to you.

The introductory price for this service, if you’re one of our patients, will be £10.00 – such a bargain as you can pay up to £50.00 at private eye specialist clinics.

The scan is completely safe and only takes a few moments.

Don’t worry if you’re not one of our patients! We are more than happy to offer this service to everyone.
